Today I took my kitties to York to Meredith’s parents, who have graciously agreed to care for them while I’m gone. It was traumatic for all involved.
I’m back in Allentown with Meredith and we’ll be leaving bright and early tomorrow morning. Here’s to hoping I don’t forget anything.
A couple of Manhattans and those cats will be just fine…
Have a great flight tomorrow. Start counting your steps when you get out of bed, by the time you get to the plane you’ll be in four figures and well on your way to establishing a reputation as a uniquely obsessive hiker. Send photos back to the 1920s.

My 22-year old son, Michael Maida, from New Hampshire will be at kick-off. He accidentally registered twice, so he will either be at site 50 or 79. He is leaving Campo today (Thursday, 4/28).
He is “homesick” and alone and needs to meet and “connect” with other PCT hikers.
I really hope that Mike gets to meet you at kick-off. Leaving his girlfriend, home, two cats (one maine coon) and Labrador Retriever that’s been “training” with him was very traumatic.
I hope that being with others who are attempting to do this, will calm him down so that he can proceed.
He’s a really long way from home (New Hampshire).
and, I wish you the best on this adventure !
I don’t think I met your son, but rest assured he’s not alone! Everyone is very friendly and he will see and meet people every day.
