All has gone according to plan thus far. We arrived in San Diego yesterday and were picked up from the airport by our generous trail angel, Girlscout, who is also hosting us at his house and taking us to the trailhead in Campo tomorrow. We’ve had dinner at Scout and Frodo’s house the past 2 nights. They are also wonderful trail angels, hosting an obscene number of hikers, somewhere around 40 tonight, I believe. I admit to being a bit star struck meeting trail legends Yogi and Halfmile. It’s a bit surreal to finally be so close after years of planning.
We leave early tomorrow morning for Campo!
I also found your blog when doing some research and will be anxious waiting for your updates. I am planning / hoping to be able to do the thru-hike next year so I hope for this be a great asset for what to expect and prepare for. Have fun and be safe!
