Day 8 – 17 miles (103)
We passed the 100 mile mark today! Though when you consider there are still 2551 to go after that, it doesn’t seem like much of an accomplishment.
We decided to try out the siesta schedule again, and knocked out about 10 miles by 11am. Then we MacGyvered our groundsheets into shade.
Then we walked another 5 miles in the late afternoon, arriving at Barrel Springs to find, yes! More trail magic! Beer, hotdogs, blood oranges, smoked salmon, shade, and chairs! All provided by a group of retired airline pilots. After much debate we managed to leave and put in another 2 miles before dark. We’re camped in a lovely cow pasture (no cows present right now).
Also, thanks to all those leaving comments here and on Facebook. I enjoy reading them all, though I have limited time and can’t respond to each one.
Oh my gosh, Katie! I found out from Aldrin (he’s like my facebook) about your adventure. It’s so cool!
Oh wow, it’s Katharyn!! Good to hear from you!
