Day 23 – 5/20/11 – 19 miles (310)

Deep Creek is closed due to washouts from storms, official PCTA detour follows forest service roads. Now let’s just pretend we ignored that and followed the PCT. Here’s what might have happened…

We busted out 17 miles along the gorgeous Deep Creek canyon, arriving at the hot springs at 2pm. Like all natural hot springs, it is quite popular with the clothing optional hippie types. We enjoyed a nice lunch, a good soak in the hot springs, a leisurely game of dice of our Tyvek beach blanket, and cooked dinner.

A two mile stroll found us a beach campsite and great opportunity for a campfire and roasting marshmallows.

Ok, so maybe the marshmallow part is asking too much, but it was an otherwise fantastic day to be on the PCT! Hypothetically, of course.
