Day 34 – 5/31/11 – 22 miles (500)
We did it! We escaped the Anderson vortex! Oh, and hit the 500 mile mark. I’m not sure which is more of an accomplishment.
I felt a bit sluggish today, but got a good day’s worth of walking in anyway. The green hills we walked in today will disappear tomorrow as we enter the Mojave desert. Being such a wimp about cold, I’m rather looking forward to it.
I got to drink my first gross water today! As noted on the recent water report, the water from the guzzler at mile 493 was brown from pine needles. However, I disagree with the assessment that it “tasted fine”. It really wasn’t all that bad, but it was easily the worst water of the trip thus far. Thankfully, flavored drink packets go a long way in masking scum.
