Day 40 – 6/6/11 – 23 miles (606)
Forget everyhing I said about “hot” and “dry”. I woke up sometime in the middle of the night in a light rain…and I was cowboy camping. Oops. I got out my tent and simply draped it over myself. It worked well enough. It was about done raining when I woke up for the day, but was still misty and drops fell from the trees every time the wind blew, which is to say pretty much constantly. The weather improved over the day, and we were all able to dry our stuff out over lunch, but it was still a cool a windy day overall. Despite the now clear sky, I set up my tent tonight fearing a repeat of last night.
We’re definitely getting out of the desert. Lots of trees along the trail and I even saw a deer today.
