Day 61 – 6/27/11 – 20 miles (878)
The good news is that after a little dip in a creek, my phone is working fine. The bad news is my camera is still recovering.
I survived the (probably) most difficult creek crossing yet, Bear Creek. I didn’t even slip. No, my little dunk came at the very end of the day, literally 100 ft from camp, crossing some unnamed little feeder stream. Like everyone before me, I walked across on downed spruce tree. But when I reached the end where the tree narrowed and flexed, I went to steady myself with my pole in the water…which turned out to be like 4 ft deep. And I fell in.
Obviously, I’m fine. My sleeping bag stayed dry, and my hiking clothes will dry out quickly tomorrow.
