Day 84 – 7/20/11 – 21 miles (1176)
What a day. With our bellies full from a pancake breakfast, we got back to the trail fairly early. After that, things started to go wrong. The wrong turn (the Donner Rim Trail logo looks an awful lot like the PCT logo) was recovered from easily enough. When we reached the bottom of a long slushy descent, Ninja realized her one pack pockets was unzipped, and her wallet (containing money, credit cards, cell phone, mp3 player and chargers) had fallen out! But amazingly, when we backtracked up the hill, she found it.
Next we got to a creek which we easily forded, only to find there was a footbridge 30 yards downstream. Oops.
We plodded along all afternoon, never getting too lost, but not moving as quickly as we’d hoped.
We’ve heard the next 20 miles into Sierra City are snow free, so tomorrow should go better. But I’ll wait to believe it until I see it.
