Day 92 – 7/28/11 – 19 miles (1354)
Progression of a thru-hiker’s town breakfast.
After stuffing ourselves at the Kopper Kettle Diner, we waddled out onto the street to hitch back to the trail. While we are normally slow walkers when our bellies are so full, we had good motivation to move quickly: Drakesbad! We’d been hearing for the last hundred miles how we simply MUST stop at Drakesbad. Delicious meals at half price for hikers, free showers and laundry, and free use of the hot springs pool moved us 19 miles in about 6 hours. And it was wonderful.
On a non-food related note, we entered Lassen National Park today and saw some neat geothermal features, like the Terminal Geyser, and Boiling Springs Lake.
