Day 70 – 7/6/11 – 16 miles (958)

Since we got in so late last night, we slept in this morning and didn’t start walking until 7:45am. We covered the first 14 miles to Return Creek quickly and crossed before eating lunch. We’d first heard rumors that Return Creek was uncrossable back in Independence. It wasn’t too bad for us: about crotch deep, fairly swift in parts, but manageable.

Then we got to the unnamed creek 2 miles later. Let’s just say we all (Goose included) went for a swim, and one of my trekking poles didn’t make it out.
Nearing the end of the day, completely soaked, we set up camp in the rain and built a fire to warm up. Then it thunderstormed. We all huddled around the fire and dried out our underwear.
