Bend zero

Day 122 – 8/27/11 – 0 miles (2007)
We lazed the morning away drinking beer in bed and watching movies on tv. As checkout time neared, we reluctantly packed up and prepared to head out. Just then, Roadrunner’s phone rang with a local number. It was Jenna and Jeff, friends who just happen to live in Bend! We did some quick math and decided we could do the next 100 miles to Timberline lodge in 3 days, and could therefore take a zero today and still stay on schedule. So we did!
Jenna and Jeff were wonderful impromptu trail angels. We hung out at their house most of the day, with an afternoon trip to the Old Mill District for lunch and a walk through an art festival. I even got a nap in. I normally never nap, but my body is really feeling the effects of thru hiking. I’ve been feeling really run down the last couple of weeks. I think the Bend nearo and zero were a good choice.

People in Bend like the outdoors, floating down the river right through town.
