Day 99 – 8/4/11 – 16 miles (1506)

We successfully managed an in and out town stop, the first since Julian (mile 78). We walked 16 miles by 12:15, and lucked out with the first car passing giving us a hitch into Dunsmuir. We did our grocery shopping and had lunch at a little microbrewery. Then we tried to hitch out…for two hours. It was so exhausting, we had to go back to the grocery store and get ice cream.

Eventually we did get a ride, but it was fairly late, and we had packed out hotdogs and s’mores fixings. So here we are, in full hiker trash glory, camped just out of sight, with the traffic of interstate 5 roaring along about 30 yards away.
