Day 129 – 9/3/11 – 0 miles (2155)
We decided to take another zero to rest and relax. The annual PCT Days festival is going on in town this weekend. We stopped by for a bit and got some awesome free 1980s sunglasses.
Staying in town this long also gave us the opportunity to catch up with many friends we haven’t seen in weeks or months. It’s sad to realize this is likely the last we’ll see some of them, as we will leave tomorrow morning and always be a day or so ahead of them for the rest of the trail, with no town stop to reunite us.
Okay, so I finally came across your blog — I’ve been following Wired’s blog and a guy named Noah Strycker’s blog (can’t remember his trail name, but he’s up in the Goat Rocks right now). I actually saw you two at the Bend REI, but didn’t talk to you (I had my daughter in a BOB baby stroller with me and was looking a kids Keens while you were shopping for insoles). I am kicking myself for not chatting now. Great job on the hike! I love reading all of your blogs. It’s keeping me going this summer, as my daughter and I haven’t been able to hike much due to the snow, mosquitoes and my recent bad back. But, someday I hope to do the entire PCT myself — maybe in 3 summers, as now I have a 1 1/2 year old and will be busy for quite a few summers to come. Good luck in WA — I am so glad that you are all having such great weather this year. I’ll be following you to Canada and wishing you the best!
Hi Julia. I’m sorry you ran into us at the REI, we hadn’t showered since Crater Lake! Thanks for following my journal, and I hope you are able to get out hiking more in the near future.
