Alpine Lakes Wilderness

Day 140 – 9/14/11 – 22 miles (2424)

We had a plan to get out early today, and we stepped outside with our packs on at 7am. It was chilly, very foggy and all around dreary. Then I peer pressured Roadrunner into agreeing to stay for breakfast.

An hour later, we trudged back to the trail, which started with a few thousand feet of climbing. The elevation gain turned out to be a blessing when we rose above all the clouds into full sun with magnificent views of Mt Rainier. The rest of the day turned out to be beautiful scenery and great views, some of the very best of the entire trail!
