Day 145 – 9/19/11 – 24 miles (2543)
It rained all night and might as well have rained all morning. Hiking through all the wet, overgrown trail was like going through a car wash. I was once again drenched by the time we were halfway up the first climb. At the high point of the first series of climbs the clouds finally shifted and we got some sun. We decided to take advantage of the good weather and took an early lunch to dry out. The rest of the day stayed nice and partly cloudy. The trail, however, was tough, roller coastering steeply up and down 2000′ at a time.
The original plan was to get to Stehekin tomorrow, but the last bus picks up at 6:15, and we have 31 miles to go. We’re going to try to make it, but I’m not getting my hopes up. I’m exhausted.
