Day 4 – 4/26/13 – 19.1mi (77)

We had a nice day of hiking today with several breaks in the shade. We have only 8 miles left into our first town, Lordsburg, tomorrow. This sets us up nicely to get into town early and have a long rest.

The terrain has been flat, and this morning we crossed miles of desolate valley floor with nothing but cow flops and barbed wire fences.

We filled up on water from a private tank along the trail and all got to try out our new Sawyer filters.

Ninja, Liz, Strider (Aaron), and I are cowboy camped (no tents) in a wash tonight under a beautiful clear sky of stars. Wired felt like hiking a bit further to get into town earlier tomorrow.
