Day 78 – 7/9/13 – 22.8 mi (1336.9)
We’re in Wyoming! I think I’ve finally caught up on sleep after Steamboat Springs and felt good today. Like I could’ve done a 30 good. However, others were not feeling so pumped and the pace was slow. I walked fast in the morning and waited for the others to catch up at breaks and lunch. But that’s no way to finish a state, so we all walked together in the afternoon. And I must say, we had productive conversation. We had another recent domain acquisition (to be unveiled at a later date) and discussed our site vision and product lines. A business with thru hikers as the target audience is sure to be a financial success, ha!
After a quick frolick and photo shoot in a beautiful field of lupine and Indian paintbrush, we resumed our blistering 2 mile an hour pace.
We finally crossed the unassuming border from Colorado into Wyoming late in the afternoon, and, with some whooping, took silly photos, shared a Toblerone, and went on our way.
Based on the 3 miles we’ve come so far, the Wyoming CDT is poorly maintained, marshy, buggy and has its share of beetle kill forest. Here’s to a new state!
