July 16-18, 2015
With my early return from Iceland, I still had a few scheduled days off work and felt obligated to go play outside. I headed east to check out the Strawberry Mountains, and of course bag some of Oregon’s 100 highest peaks along the way. (dedicated section on my website coming soon)

Strawberry Mountain – 9038′
Graham Mountain – 8570′
Indian Spring Butte – 8529′
Unnamed peak – Riner basin/Slide – 8511′
Lookout Mountain – 8032′
Bullrun Rock – 7873′
Strawberry Mountain was the only one with an official trail to the top. Lookout Mountain had a 4WD jeep road to the top. The rest required some cross country-ing. The off-trail was fun: nothing too difficult, but kept the mind occupied.

Slide Lake looks beautiful. Was it deep enough to swim, and did ya?
It looks beautiful in the photo, but it was actually full of gross green slime! Also, I didn’t go all the way down to Slide lake – I stayed up high on the ridge. But I did stick my feet into nearby High Lake, which was lovely!
