Sierra High Route Intro

This is the teaser/trip announcement post.

I’m hiking the Sierra High Route with Snorkel!  Dan will join us for the first section.  There is a lot of snow. It’s gonna be great!

The Sierra High Route is like a higher, off trail version of the JMT that was developed by Steve Roper back in the ’70s.  We are actually going to start south of the Steve Roper route and add on a section of Alan Dixon and Don Wilson’s Southern Sierra High Route. Altogether, our route will be about 250 miles.  I’m really excited to return to the Sierra in a high snow year and looking forward to a very challenging, but rewarding off-trail experience.

We start June 29.  Check back in July for updates as we go!

I wouldn’t expect anything else from you; always looking for the “tough stuff”. I’m going to the Sierra’s the third or fourth week of July and I bet we still have a ton of snow so we’ll most likely be lower down. ha
